iTunes Review

From the twisting twin-guitar harmonies of the lead-off instrumental, “The Ides of March,” Killers defined the heavy metal genre it was about to reinvent for the '80s. Singer Paul Di’Anno would soon depart (to be replaced by Bruce Dickinson), but not before delivering his definitive brooding to the mix. Tracks such as “Wrathchild,” “Murders in the Rue Morgue," and “Purgatory” reflect the creepy vibe of Iron Maiden's album covers, with the skeletal “Eddie” peeking out in supernatural glory. Lyrically, the group centers on fantasy, horror, and war. Its music follows suit, employing tough, militant rhythms that sound as if the bassist and drummer have been joined in lockstep since boot camp. Other groups would sweeten their attacks with soothing harmonies and catchy pop hooks. Maiden would shun these conventions with elaborate and challenging twin-guitar leads that inspired and intimidated an entire generation of potential guitar players. Martin Birch’s production miraculously captures the band’s intricate (almost mathematical) chemistry and its raw live stage power.

One of the best from one of the best!

This is just such a fantastic album and one of the best from one of my all-time favorite bands. Every song is passionate, hard, crisp, tight and rocking! Not a bad song on it. Highlights, though, include "Wrathchild" (which has one of the best opening bass lines ever - you can't help "air fingering" it when it comes on), "Murders in the Rue Morgue" and the title track, "Killers." I'm also am quite fond of "Prodigal Son," one of the more melodious songs on the record. It's hard to believe that Maiden could ever possibly top this one, especially with the exiting of lead singer Paul D'Anno, but they did with their next two albums. Nevertheless, this album stands as a testament to Iron Maiden's strength in their early days and makes it easy to understand why the band still remains a musical force to be reckoned with 30 years later. "Killers" also has one of THE best album covers EVER! Up the Irons!!!

Amazing!!!!!! My favorite album

Every single song is good!

My personal fav from maiden

This album is darker and more menacing than the first album, and it works, hell the cover alone should tell the tale

Known for such powerful hits as "Two Minutes to Midnight" and "The Trooper," Iron Maiden were and are one of the most influential bands of the heavy metal genre. The often-imitated band has existed for over nearly four decades, pumping out wild rock similar to Judas Priest. Iron Maiden have always been an underground attraction; although failing to ever obtain any real media attention in the U.S. (critics claimed them to be Satanists due to their dark musical themes and their use of grim mascot "Eddie"),...
