iTunes Review

Though their 1994 debut Blunted On Reality came and went with minimal fanfare, the Fugees regrouped and came back HUGE with their follow-up, The Score. The Jersey trio of Lauryn Hill, Wyclef, and Pras sold millions of copies and became worldwide superstars, thanks to their mellow but extremely catchy music and positive lyricism, a welcome counterpoint to the ultra-aggressive murder rap dominating the charts at the time. Wyclef's pop-minded songwriting and Lauryn's intoxicating voice won them a gigantic, diverse fanbase and resulted in smash singles like "Fu-Gee-La," "Ready Or Not," and the Roberta Flack revamp "Killing Me Softly With His Song," which absolutely dominated commercial radio in 1996. This hits compilation includes them all, plus the early single "Nappy Heads," clutch album tracks "How Many Mics" and "Cowboys," plus a few select remixes. It's only ten tracks long, and not really as cohesive as The Score, but if you just want the hits, or you're looking for a Cliff Notes style overview, this will definitely do the trick.

Without a doubt, this album teaches these young cats what true Hip Hop is. The love, game and benefit of the true realness of the game and not the PAYOLA paying labels, managers and fakeness we here today!

What's the point of a Greatest Hits album? The band only had 2 albums, and only one of them was any good. Just buy The Score instead. 7 of the songs on this Greatest Hits album are on The Score.
