great all around
matt is a phenomenal talent whose songwriting has exponentially progressed since his last release, winter child. i had the pleasure of sharing the stage with matt for a few shows a while back, and have to wholeheartedly disagree with the reviewer whose opinion seemed to suggest that matt's voice is somehow reliant on "computers" or "processing." one of the most unreal voices i've ever heard live, and a songwriter who seems to be just at the beginning of something huge.
Great direction
Matt has outdone himself this time. His last album, Winter Child, was excellent, but this one is a more personal record for him and he put a lot into it. Touching on many different themes, Matt has given us a listening experience that takes us on an emotional roller-coaster and is sure to entertain. Even more phenomenal live, if you are ever in the Philadelphia area, his main base, pop in on a live show and you'll have discovered a truly great act. He has evolved as an artist and will only go up from here. Key tracks I feel for him are Rabbit / Opossum, which show the ups and downs of life and relationships. Rose is a great tune that shows his ability to rock out, while Kingdom Underground gets into the story of Creation and was influenced by "Paradise Lost". However, I would advise just to sit and play the whole thing through - every song could be a hit!
A Must Listen
Once again Matt delivers a great album. The emotions can be felt through every note and lyric. I cannot wait to see what's next! Did I mention he's great live too?! Matt, keep up the great work!
