Awesome
Not sure why Toby is not huge! You like Joss Stone or Joan Osbourne for their sweet smoky bluesy voice, then you will love Toby Lightman. I've loved her for a few years now, she's a great songwriter and singer!
This Sound Is Where Toby Belongs! AWESOME!
I saw Toby Lightman open for Rob Thomas several years ago and was electrified. In listening to her studio efforts since, however -- while impressed with her artistry, soulfulness, and pitch perfection -- I was never able to recapture that feeling -- UNTIL NOW! This album is fantastic! This is how these great songs were meant to be performed -- acoustically. The arrangements are fantastic, and Toby shines. This album should serve a memo to Big Music that the best way to showcase an amazing artist is to give the producers the day off and let the artists be themselves. Toby's style has a little bit of everything -- pop, soul, blues, country (?) -- and I would recommend this album to anyone who's never heard her before, or who has heard her previous work and is interested in hearing the best album to come from Toby Lightman yet!
