Akon’s appeal is in the way he effortlessly straddles the worlds of saccharine R&B and hardcore hip-hop. For decades these areas were firmly segregated. Can you imagine Lionel Richie duetting with Run-DMC? Or Luther Vandross singing the hook on an LL Cool J track? Not only can Akon put a song like “Shake Down” (“Cause you will rarely find me / Without my weapon on me”) next to a song like “Never Took the Time” (“I can’t believe that your love is gone…why can’t you understand my pain?”) he is also an expert at wrapping extremely crude lyrics in sugar-coated melodies. His collaboration with Snoop Dogg, “I Wanna Love You,” has all the sincere yearning of a wedding vow, until you realize that Akon is singing about lusting for a stripper on a pole. But such is his charm. His voice has a candy clarity that is perfectly suited to the kind of delirious song epitomized by “Smack That.” At the same time, “Don’t Matter” displays a strikingly plainspoken voice and melodic sensibility (partly absorbed from the deep musical culture of his native Senegal) that make his songs hard to forget.

Akon at His Best
This album shows akon at is absolute best!
Better than the first
Man this is way better than the original Konvicted album. Cause the bonus tracks are just awesome. And also I cannot wait for Akon’s new album which will probably drop early next year. This song features some smashing hit singles such as Don’t Matter, I wanna love you, and Smack that. Here is my track-by-track review: Shake down-This song has a really cool beat. And the trumpets in the background are making the song sound stylish! 4\5 Blown away-Gotta love this song cuz it got styles p and so did Akon do good. 5\5 Smack That-Great Song. And fabulous second verse by Enemie. Enime rocks! 5\5 I wanna love you-This song is good. Snoop Dogg is awesome. But one thing. This album need the remix of this song. 5\5 The Rain-Fabulous piano in the background. 4\5 Never Took the time-A nice song cause of the nice and slow beat and the lyrics are just fabulous if you just hear it. 5\5 Mama Africa-The song has a real cool background and slow beat. 3\5 I can’t wait-Pretty Cool. The voice affects are awesome! 3\5 Gangsta Bop-Man this beat is cool. 5\5 Tired of runnin-you can’t get tired of this song. 3\5 Once in a while-The lyrics are kind of good. But love the beat! 3\5 Don’t Matter-A nice and slow song that is just fabulous and has very nice lyrics and a great message to all that listen. 5\5 Sorry Blame it on me-This is a good and slow song that really has great meanings and lyrics. 5\5 Rush-Cool. 3\5 Don’t matter Calypso Remix-This is a nice bonus track and a great remix! 5\5 Top 5 Songs: 1)Sorry Blame it on me 2)Don’t Matter 3)I wanna love you 4)Smack that 5)Blown Away Final Thoughts: Man this is way better than the original album cause the bonus tracks are fabulous. I actually think that these bonus tracks should have been on the original. This is a good album. Can’t wait for the next album.
