iTunes Review

The 2006 documentary Kurt Cobain - About A Son kept things simple — previously unreleased interviews with Cobain narrate a recounting of his life to a moving montage of images from the Pacific Northwest cities and towns that backdropped his journey. The accompanying soundtrack is similarly tasteful and more importantly, anyone who's ever read anything about the man would likely agree he would have approved of these music selections — many of which influenced his own tunes. Not only did Cobain champion the Vaselines, he also covered their songs including “Son of a Gun,” which is featured here. And Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Up Around the Bend” was another tune he and Krist Novoselic played (though it was in their pre-Nirvana CCR cover band). Sure, Mudhoney’s “Touch Me I’m Sick” is a little predictable – but then the pre-grunge garage-rock anthem has aged better than anything on the soundtrack to Cameron Crowe’s 1992 film Singles.

Great Documentary! Great Soundtrack!

I only bought Passenger by Iggy Pop and Owner's Lament by Scratch Acid (both are rock bliss), but all of these songs were great in the documentary. To any alternative rock fan, I strongly recommend buying this documentary as a holiday gift, or maybe if you're lucky you can catch it by setting your DVR/TiVo to record it. To all the hyper-intelligent, highly intuitive, highly creative souls out there who choose to be loners, you'll love every second of the About a Son documentary--guaranteed. Long live autonomy, long live recalcitrance, long live paradigm shifts!

Great Compilation, Not Complete

A rich compilation of the music that influenced Kurt Cobain, who had a real vanguard vision of combining pop and hardcore in a unique way. This music echoes this sensibility; it's eclectic and still cohesive if you consider it's source. Missing Queen's "It's Late" and Big Black's "Kerosene".

Idk

Nothing can compare to what he did to music he was a grate guy, but he did the wrong thing. What scears me is I look and act like him I play guitar lefty my life isn't as hard but I was born the day and year he died same time too.
