What we need right now . . .

is an album like this. Solid, lush, groovy and sexy instrumental organic/electronic soul jazz. As a long time fan of electronic, dance, and related styles, it's gotten really tedious over the last few years with all these previously electronic/dance artists and labels trying to do vocal tracks, pop, etc. and usually coming up VERY short(especially in the lyric department!) Anyhow, all rants aside, this harkens back a bit to the glory days of the late 90's early 2000's, when not everything had to be some lame attempt at commercial advertising placement. It's classy. Kudos to Ubiquity for putting this out, because they seemed to have fallen into the same predictable patterns as everybody else up 'til now (and as someone with a stack of old Ubiquity vinyl, it was sad to see . . .) Anyhow, lush, funky, textured, with absolutely killer live bass and drums (who ARE those guys?), and mood a-plenty. Get it!

Love his work.

Man... this album really reminds me of that excitement I felt when "Fusion" first became a genre! I'm new to James Hardway, but, I love his work.

Cool

Love that drummer. Who is it?

Biography

Born: London, England

Genre: Electronic

Years Active: '90s, '00s

Drum'n'bass fusionary James Hardway works most often with cool jazz textures, though he is largely immune to the purist poses of many jungle producers. Known before the mid-'90s under his birth name David Harrow (and reportedly related to Al Capone), Hardway has worked with an impressive cast of British producers, from Genesis P-Orridge to Adrian Sherwood and Jah Wobble to Andrew Weatherall. During the early '80s, Hardway lived in Germany and acted in films before getting into the Berlin music scene....
