Album Review

Released in 2006, No.1 de Ricardo Montaner is a collection of the Argentinean-Venezuelan singer/songwriter's biggest hits. Ignoring his debut album, Cada Dia, and its self-titled follow-up, the chronological track list begins with 1988 single "Tan Enamorados" and ends with "Que Ganas" from 2003 album Prohibido Olvidar. Its 12 tracks include Mexican telenovela theme tunes, his early-noughties bolero-influenced hits, and several of his most popular trademark romantic ballads. ~ Jon O'Brien, Rovi

Love this album

It has all the hits that I love especially "Bésame" because that song is so romantic, and I've seen the song play in several novelas where there is kissing involved which make it so romantic. I can't wait to see more songs from Ricardo.

Besame

No he escuchado las otras canciones pero la cancion Besame me derrite los calcetines. Como les quedo el ojo? jajajaja

Good, but incomplete

This is a fine collection, but an incomplete one. Where're La Cima del Cielo, Ojos Negros, A Donde Va El Amor, Solo Con Un Beso.... there are many others that I'm not including. What this does is compliment very well his old "greatest hits" album that came out around 10 years ago shortly after he recorded the song for Aladdin in Spanish.

One of Latin pop's steadier and more seasoned artists, Ricardo Montaner specializes primarily in romantic ballads, though over the years he proved himself unafraid to pursue divergent styles of music and write songs of various natures. In terms of popularity, the Argentine-Venezuelan singer benefited greatly from his association with telenovelas, several of which featured his songs as themes; however, he also recorded classy orchestral albums, in addition to other similarly thematic albums, and he...
