Great music but not his best work

I'm a huge Patrick Doyle fan: he's one of my top-five fave composers, up there with the likes of Zimmer, Kerry Muzzey, Marcelo Zarvos and Alexandre Desplat. So I was hoping for something a little more impressive from Doyle. Don't get me wrong, it's WONDERFUL music -- but I guess I've come to expect the most amazing things from this composer, and this seems on par with his other works, vs. being something that jumps out at you. Great listening though, and worth the full download!

DOYLE AT HIS WORST

Well, I was disappointed by this soundtrack. Patrick Doyle is one of my favourite composers, and with this album, I found it seemed rather weak. In the past, Doyle has had works, like "The Maze", "Potter Waltz", and "Voldemort" from Harry Potter and The Goblet of The Fire soundtrack and "Battle of Varden", "Eragon", and "The Ra'zac" from the Eragon soundtrack that left me waiting for more. This soundtrack, unfortunately didn't have that spellbounding effect on me.With an expectation of "Secret of Sword", I found this album to be one of Doyle's most boring and lamest C.D. ,as well as his worst to date . Although I prefer minor keys in music scores, I still felt that this needed more rhythm and spunk set into it.

If Only It Wasn't Doyle.

Whenever the next historical epic releases into theatres I have come to hope for the second coming of Gladiator, or Kingdom of Heaven, but you won't find a score anywhere near the same caliber of those fine works here. I've come to associate the name Patrick Doyle with by the numbers, blasé scores, as in the cases of his previous work on Eragon and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Lacking any individuality or moving substance. At most you can expect some light entertainment from Patrick Doyle's latest work while you wait for a score by a superior composer to come along.
