Album Review

On the strength of "Grind with Me" and "Your Body," unapologetically sleazy brother act Pretty Ricky sold over 800,000 copies of their debut album, Bluestars. Follow-up Late Night Special ups the ante even more. They make forebears like Jodeci and Bell Biv DeVoe sound like pent-up prudes. Now that the members are a couple years older (they're no longer teenagers), their explicit flirtations don't seem quite as mismatched, and they also benefit from a set of songs that is stronger and more memorable ("On the Hotline" and "Leave It All to You" especially) than the debut. Producer Music Royale, who replaces Jim Jonsin, comes up with track after track of appealingly radio-ready backdrops, and the lyrical content isn't quite as one-dimensional. That said, lines like "Wanna drop it in your bucket," "I wanna put it in your stomach like some Robitussin," and "Make it firm like a bad perm" won't be winning any awards for chivalrous subtlety.

SOMETHING NEW PLEASE

now this applies to this album and the up-in-coming Eighties Babies. I like talkin and singing about sex just as much as the next guy, and i like how they are prolly tryin to revive the 80's theme of sex and sexuality, but the artist of the 80's did it with more class and variation. Now come on not every song should be about sex becuz it's going to get old. And maybe not at their third album but around the 4th and 5th album people prolly gon get bored with the sex driven Pretty Ricky. Some of their songs are the sexest songs of the new millenium but if you should really try something different. Like try talking about foreplay, the persue of sex, or the aftermath of sex just to switch it up. Also the way ya'll rap is a lil overbored. I mean when you really gettin it in maybe, but not every rap part should be you yelling. It's not sexi. And if you trying to sound gangsta, my question is for what? Why do you need to be gangsta while having sex. Are you going to kill the girl afterwards cuz that's how you make it sound sometimes. I'm not going to comment on their lyrical content becuz that seems like that will never change and even though I personally don't like some of the ways the elaborate on sex I tolerate it cuz i know that is jus Pretty Ricky. Their lyrical content is what diferenciates them from other groups. Just my twenty-five cent

what is the matter with them. if any of ya'll have noticed their singing about the same thing over and over just like t-pain and keyshia cole. when are they going to get serious. it's okay to sing sexual stuff like usher and j. holiday do, but pretty ricky sing it all the time. one day all of ya'll are going to see. how would you like if you had a kid about 4 years old singing let's talk about sex. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
