iTunes Review
Neil Young is extremely interested in capturing the moment. He’s always been one for writing and recording quickly, dashing off concept albums or stylistically singular albums in less time than it takes many artists to set up the drums. Le Noise is delightfully weird. It’s a solo album where Neil takes out his electric guitar and leaves the band at home. After he’s done, producer Daniel Lanois goes to work tweaking the sounds into a peculiar kind of poetry. “Walk With Me” is so infused with chaotic passion and a guitar that sounds so good that no other instrument is needed. “Sign of Love” is a grinder that would’ve been an outstanding cut from Re*ac*tor. “Someone’s Gonna Rescue You” is an electric ballad: sweet, lilting vocals and guitars put through phasers. ”Love and War” and “Peaceful Valley Boulevard” break out the acoustic with some rippling effects. It’s unique and wonderful.

Le Noise
Some stuff you just record and listen to yourself. This is one of those. If it wasn't Neil Young, no one would even listen to it.
Young is brining his "Ragged Glory" Guitar Awesomeness Back in Le Noise!
As a sat down to do my typical Tuesday morning routine, I plugged in my iPhone to iTunes and began to peruse the new releases and sure enough, another Neil Young release hit the digital shelves today. I haven't purchased the last few albums from Young and have been exploring other musical interests but I gave this a quick listen and WOW! If you are a fan of Ragged Glory, Greendale, or simply just that famous chord strumming with the heavy tube driven fuzz signature tone which is prominently heard on most of the Crazy Horse albums, you will love this album. I'm already inspired to re-add my entire Neil Young collection (at the expense of my other modern rock/alt rock tunes) on my 16GB iphone. Thanks Neil for the incredible and unexpected gem you released today!
Two Masters —One Masterpiece
Le Noise is one of those sonic wonders that comes along every now and then to expand musical horizons and expand lives. From beginning to end this album is amazing.
I've listened to Le Noise several times now and it's become one of those albums I want to hear again and again. There are so many moments that make up the whole—it's addictive.
Previous to Le Noise I've not been a real fan of Neil Young—I've appreciated his independent vision, fierce intensity and singular talent but his sound has not been something I've resonated with until now. On the other hand I've always loved Daniel Lanois's work both as musician and as producer. On Le Noise their musical mastery, creative vision, and intensity reach a collaborative high that is truly inspiring.
Kudos to Young for continuing to remain so youthful, honest and fresh. Props to Lanois for shaping shaping our audio landscape. The resulting Le Noise is the best thing I've heard in a long time.
