Classic Amr
I'm an American with no Arab roots. However, I've been fascinated with the culture of the Middle East since I was a kid. My passion for Arabic music developed later in life, when I had the opportunity for exposure to the culture in a broader sense. Amr Diab represents the strongest of the “middle aged” Arab artists that blend traditional sounds and melodies with modern beats and rhythms. He blends electronica with the Oud, the violin with the synthesizer, the tabla with the mixing board... and he does it well. Combined with his rich, undulating voice, his music is fun, passionate and respected. Lealy Nahary stands out for the quality of the producing. Many Arabic artists put out music that is full of passion but lacks the maturity of a gifted producer. Music can sound grainy and "lacking" at times. Not Amr's work. Always maturing, changing (but classically "Arab")... you will enjoy his music. This CD stands out. Have fun!
As Good As Kammel Kalamak
Let me just say, that every song on this CD is excellent. Some are better than others, but all of them are worth listening to. This album was worth every penny, and if you're a fan of World/Middle-Eastern music, then go for it!
El Waheed!
Amr Diab is the best. I'm an egyptian, and this is the music grew up listening to. All of his songs mix classic with modern. He is the best.
