“Blue” made LeAnn Rimes a star at age 14, setting a high bar for her to clear as she grew older. How well she met the challenge can be heard on her 2003 Greatest Hits album. Rimes’ astounding seven-octave voice and mature stage presence transformed “Blue” from a countrypolitan period piece into a cry of youthful desire. Initial follow-up singles like “The Light in Your Eyes” and “One Way Ticket (Because I Can)” downplayed her vocal fireworks while emphasizing positive lyric themes. As the ‘90s progressed, Rimes crossed over into pop with such well-crafted ballads as “I Need You” and “How Do I Live,” then reasserted her Nashville credentials with the surging “Commitment” and the sassy “Big Deal.” Along the way, she credibly tackled standards like “Unchained Melody” and slipped into bathos with Elton John on “Written in the Stars.” This zigzagging path hasn’t always led Rimes to the best material, though hope can be found in the richly melodic “This Love” and her gorgeous rendition of Willie Nelson’s “Crazy.” With the latter tune, LeAnn circles back to the strengths she displayed at the start. Uneven or not, the tunes on Greatest Hits track the unfolding of a remarkable career.

Enjoyable

This album has a lot of material from LeAnn Rimes and some songs that weren't even necessarily "hits." The album starts out with LeAnn's signature song, "Blue" which made her country music star. The 2nd song you hear is "How Do I Live," which made her a pop music star, and an all around famous singer. All of these songs are good, but the order can get the listener kind of bored, especially by the time "Unchained Melody" comes along, the listener will have already listened to 3 ballads and a 4th one will be a little annoying and cause the listener to skip for a more upbeat song. Her most recent recordings are around the end of the album, which is nice because it shows how much she really has grown as an artist and as a vocalist. If you listen to "The Light in Your Eyes" and then skipt to "We Can," you can really hear a nice difference. In "We Can," LeAnn can really sing those low notes very well and had better control now that she's older. The new songs have mixed reviews from me. "This Love" is a very nice country ballad that deserves a good listen, while "Last Thing on My Mind" is forgettable. Overall, this is a nice collection to have, and the "...to be continued" part of the album had definetely lived up to it's description. Since the release of this album, LeAnn has scored 3 consecutive Top 5 singles from her This Woman album.

LeAnn Rimes is the best country singer ever. she mixes pop and rocvk in all of her songs. Ratings: Blue: 6/10 its ok without this song there would be no LeAnn Rimes though How Do I Live: 10/10 cute song fr signing it at 14 years old and a classic Cant Fight The Moonlight: 5/10 i lik the normal 1 better One Way Ticket ( Because I Can): 10/10 one of LR's best songs and 1 of my fav's Commitment: 8.5/10 great song and so true I Need You: 10/10 another one of her best ever the world would be alot different without this song Written In The Stars: 9.5/10 awesome song with great sound Unchained Melody: 9/10 really good signing when she was 14 The Light In Your Eyes: 10/10 a very positive and uplifting song On The Side Of Angels: 10/10 another inspirational and uplifting song. You Light Up My Life: 9/10 A very great song Nothin New Under The Moon: 10/10 another one of her best songs Big Deal: 8.5/10 funny song Life Goes On: 10/10 perhaps her best song ever We Can:10/10 awesome song Last Thing On My Mind: 10/10 great duet. LeAnn R. & Ronan Keating are good signing together This Love: 9.5/10 tight song Crazy: 7.5/10 not th best but good Well if u dont get this get The Best Of LeAnn Rimes. LeAnn Rimes your the best country music signer and one of the best signers right know. i think you could sign any kind of song and begood at it. keep on signing awesome, have a beautiful personality, and being sizzling hot.

"Last Thing on My Mind" is one of the best duets I've ever heard. Although the songs seem a little randomly placed on the CD, it's still her best.
