iTunes Review

With their third album in seven years, Linkin Park has started to move beyond the rap-metal template that made the band icons in the first half of the 2000s. Lead single “Shadow of the Day” features strings and an unusually tender vocal from Chester Bennington. Of course, one can’t discount the bleak refrain lying just under the song’s sweet surface: “The shadow of the day / Will embrace the world in grey.” “Valentine’s Day” and “Leave Out All the Rest” follow the blueprint of “Shadow of the Day,” and at first it seems that Linkin Park might now have more in common with Coldplay than Korn. But “Given Up,” “Bleed It Out,” and “No More Sorrow” are furious performances that match, and perhaps even outdo, classic Linkin Park songs like “Numb” and “Crawling.” Producer Rick Rubin has brought out the best in the band, and with Minutes to Midnight they manage to incorporate new sounds and attitudes without abandoning the aggressive rock that made them a household name.

It's Linkin Park, deal with it.

I've seen many reviews on here critizising LP for a different style of music. It is, but does that mean it's bad? NO, this is a great album with many great songs. Just because LP is expanding on there current format doesn't mean it's bad.

Even as I write this review, LP has released "New Divide" for Transformers 2 which is a amazing song. But many critizise it for being different, doesn't mean it's bad.

So I say caution to LP fans, this is LP and no matter what, I think they won't be going back to nu-metal soon. (Though I admit, I like Meteora)

BTW, great album LP. Especailly like Shadow of a Day.

Linkin Park musical style has changed drastically, I gave this album a chance but it's just not that great, I liked "give it up", "bleed it out", and even "what I've done" those are basically the only similar songs to they're old style, they used to be a VERY unique band with a style like no other bands, but they've become too mainstream. This album is bad even for comparable artists to this new genre that they play now, I've seen many bands live (all the ones in my nickname, and a $@"&load more) and I will still like to see linkin park when they come around to my city, I will go for they're older songs and the ones I listed above, the rest is just to slow or not good (even no more sorrow) btw.....they're new concert movie on iTunes is not as good as live in Texas, if you don't believe me, look at they're older songs on both movies and TELL ME THEY SOUND THE SAME. They've lost almost all of they're originality and sound like "just another band" recently, I for one hope that they go back to making original music that they can have fun with, this album even sounds like an uncomfortable transition for the band (maybe this has something with mike creating fort minor?!?)

Jesus, calm down.

Christ, guys, just 'cause it's different doesn't mean it's bad. Linkin Park has changed for the better. I mean, their songs've got a tune now. Hybrid theory was sort of terrible. No offense. Plus, just 'cause they have a tune, doesn't make them just another teen band. A lot of people still don't know Linkin Park. And you have to admit they are way different than today's favorite bands and singers.

Biography

Years Active: '90s, '00s

Although rooted in alternative metal, Linkin Park became one of the most successful acts of the early 2000s by welcoming elements of hip-hop, modern rock, and atmospheric electronica into their music.
