iTunes Review

Teen heartthrob Jesse McCartney’s 2008 album Departure is here repackaged…er…Recharged in 2009 with five brand new flavors, the most notable being a bonus track — a truly infectious remix of “How Do You Sleep?,” with a cameo by Ludacris making for a dance-floor smash with an infectious injection of heartfelt rhymes. “Oxygen” furthers McCartney’s foray into freak-friendly falsetto-heavy balladry inspired by Justin Timberlake (in turn inspired by Michael Jackson). McCartney loosens up the larynx with a Prince-esque tenor on “Crash & Burn,” a sultry and soulful ballad that begs to be mashed up with the man in Purple’s “Little Red Corvette.” Just when you think things can’t get any steamier, the cosmopolitan “Body Language” comes out of nowhere with partial lyrics sung in Japanese and French. The aptly titled “In My Veins” is an addictive slow jam with barbed hooks that will get inside your head like a good hit should.

What happened to the OLD Jesse McCartney?

by Brooklyn85

I liked the old Jesse, who didn't constantly talk about "that thing behind you is amazing"..I mean come on. His attempt at becoming a rapper has proved that he's been led out of the good boy realm, and into the sleazy world that Disney has now put him in. Not a huge fan of the change. The tunes seem to get old..Just like Timberlake's.

personally i love jesse mccartney. and i have since his very first album. and usually i love every last one of his songs. but this album really pissed me off because i felt like he wasnt being him. i felt like he was being something someone else wanted him to be. his songs are usually really really good. but this last album only had a couple of songs that still sounded like him. like seriously when the hell did he start having people feature on his album. i thought that i would always love his songs. but to be quite honest i hated this last album. i know a lot of people will dissagree with me, but i am a 14 year old girl who really liked the old jesse mccartney. i really dont like this new one. his songs are crap and im really dissapointed that he would start doing what everyone else was doing instead of just being himself. so thats how i feel. and i know that this is a low blow but when i was younger i remember getting a backstage pass to one of his concerts and i remember him telling me that being yourself is the best thing you can do. and he is definitly not doing that. so i really wouldnt buy the whole album if i were you. i would only buy a couple of his songs. and another thing i have to agree with Bekah Hearts Jesse. cuz she is totally 100% right.
thanks-
Dil
