Abnormaly Good in a Flooded Genre

The groundbreaking dopeness of artists like Flying Lotus and Dabrye has caused a flood of "next level" hip hop instrumental albums. Too often these "knock-off" artists simply mix the ingrediants (heavy side chain compression, grainy samples, choppy and off-beat triggering, boards of Canada esque atmosphere, etc) without capturing the essence of what makes artists like Fly Lo so good. I'm not sure how to characterize just what that "essence" is but Lone captures it often all the while adding his own sublte flavor- a smoothness, a coolness. I've yet to hear anyone master this genre like Flying Lotus but Lone is one of the rare few who comes close and stands out.

Simply Tropical

This guy is one of the few experimental producers out there who has an undeniably distinct sound. Even though this man hails from the UK, his skills in capturing the amazing feeling of being on a Florida beach are flawless. His feel-good, sunny style also combined with heavy percussion and sidechain compression, or is smooth and entrancing. Definitely worth a buy. Without a doubt.
