Album Review

Let It Flow was the biggest selling album that Dave Mason had while on Columbia, as it contained his biggest hit, "We Just Disagree," as well as "Let It Go, Let It Flow." Everything here is similar in character to the latter song, though not all of it is as catchy or hook-driven. And there is a great deal else to recommend this record, including the horn-and-string ornamented "Mystic Traveler"; the soaring, soulful "Spend Your Life with Me"; the funky "Takin' the Time to Find"; and the soulful "What DO We Got Here?" Only the two hits off this album ended up on Sony/Legacy's compilation of Mason's work, Long Lost Friend: The Best of Dave Mason, so it is still a relevant purchase for those curious about Mason's work in the '70s.

A lost Great!

I cannot believe that there was only one review of this recording. Its not his very best, but there are some great cuts and some great back up players on all Dave's albums. He is a classic 70's rocker - under appreciated to be sure...

Some Fine 70's Soft Rock

I wouldn't classify Let It Flow as a classic album, but it comes darn close. There are many quality tracks here, most of which are totally underappreciated. Going beyond the hits (We Just Disagree, So High, and Let It Go, Let It Flow) other fine songs include "Spend Your Life With Me", "Then It's Alright" and "Seasons". There are clearly hints of the presence of musical stylings of other acts that were popular at the time, including The Doobie Brothers, Chicago and Santana. While they certainly add to the depth of the music, the fact that he could not truly claim a certain style as his own may have ultimately been a reason that Dave Mason never really caught the imagination of the radio listening public.

Let Yourself Go

This album is pretty good, I love "We Just Disagree." Play Mystic Traveler, put on your headphones, put on the visualizer from iTunes, turn off the lights and enjoy the show. The album is pure mellow, you will be in a good mood when you are done.
