Subdued and emotional--one of Giacchino's best works.

Michael Giacchino is shaping up to be a fine soundtrack composer. With this soundtrack, he has moved up to my third-favorite, after Hans Zimmer and Bear McCreary.

The "Let Me In" soundtrack is much different from his prior work. It lacks the bombast and full orchestral arrangements of "Star Trek", for example, but it matches the elegiac and somber mood of "Let Me In" perfectly. This is all mournful strings and the occasional kettle drum in measured doses--mood-evoking, reflective music, not workout fare. This soundtrack is haunting in some places, tenderly uplifting in others, but always understated and effective--just like the movie.

Giacchino is amazing.

I went to see this movie on a whim, came away with: 1) The movie story was amazing (no I had never heard of Let The Right On In before seeing this, but I did rent LtROI after seeing this, and both movies are exceptional). 2) The music set the mood of the different scenes so perfectly. Especially the "main theme" whenever Owen/Abby would talk and hangout, it was perfect. I didn't know that Giacchino (whom I loved from LOST series) was the one behind this soundtrack. Purchased right away.

Perfect music for a bad movie

Actually, I know the work of Matt Reeves on Cloverfield, but Let Me In was not a good movie. Michael Giacchino did his job perfectly in the movie, just missed the director Reeves devote more on the film. Anyway, Michael Giacchino is perfecting its work in each album. I'm looking forward to the release of the soundtrack of Super 8 and Mission: Impossible IV.
