Libbie's Break Today
I've been listening to Libbie for a few years now ever since I discovered her in a Songwriter's show in Santa Monica, CA. I've seen her play live a few times and own 2 of her CDs but my favorite song has been "It Breaks Today" ever since the first time I saw her perform it. It's just one of those power songs that you need to blast to boost your spirit every now and then. A great "#$@#$ YOU!" song!
this album is so good
this album is so good. i've gotten the chance to see her live as well and she is awesome....great melodies, incredible pop sensibility, and a kind and energizing stage performance.
An amazing artist, but...
I really hope this album succeeds in giving this artist the acclaim and visibility she definitely deserves. I genuinely love this woman's songs. I thought that "Blood Red Moon" was a perfect winner of the Pantene contest - a song that only a woman could write. The keyboard on War on Science simply blew me away. Some of the other songs on "Letters to Boys" were also extremely good, as were one or two on "Taking the Fall". So in many ways it is disappointing to hear an album of reworks with only four new tracks, especially after all this time. "On the First Try" and "Alive" work best for me. The original version of "War on Science" is definitely better, as is that of "Blood Red Moon". Sorry. I bought the new tracks only.
