Ne-Yo is a musical triple-threat; singer, songwriter, and producer. Born in Arkansas and raised in Las Vegas, he spent many years grinding and paying dues before getting his big break in the mid-2000s, when he wrote the hit "Let Me Love You" for Mario, topping the charts for over two months. Signed by Jay-Z to Def Jam, his 2006 debut album In My Own Words spawned several huge singles, hit number one, and went platinum. Because of You and Year of the Gentleman followed setting the stage for this, his fourth album. Where his earlier releases were pretty much straight modern R&B, Libra Scale is a conceptual piece, centering on three men who must choose between true love vs. money/power/fame, while also paying homage to one of his biggest influences, the late great Michael Jackson. Produced by StarGate, Ryan Leslie, and others, it is his most interesting work to date, with unique story lines, highly danceable beats, and dominant vocals. Check out "Know Your Name," "Crazy Love," and "Beautiful Monster."

for the grown and sexy
Although Libra Scale is extremely short, it is filled with quality music as oopose to quantity album fillers that doesn't make sense. Though I wished a couple more songs could have been added to differ the european album release Ne-yo sticks to 10 tracks, The album grows on to one, so please don't skip through tracks just listen to album all the way through and you will appreciate each song and lyric. With that being said Libra Scale is very Michael Jackson inspired, as MJ's sound is felt through the album. Moreover, the album is truly R&B and for the grown and sexy. To be honest Ne-yo goes back to the Urban R&B sound that made him famous. Top tracks from the album for me...Champagne life, makin' a movie, know your name, Telekinesis, one in a million, beautiful monster, what have I done. Great R&B album..it has something for everyone, but it is not for everyone thus for the grown and sexy.. enjoy another grammy winner folks.
