Up there with the best of them

This score has so much musicality and emotion and is up there with Aaron Zigman, Rachel Portman, and even Thomas Newman. It seems like the mallets/strings combo was a hot trend in the film score world back in the early 2000s with this film, American Beauty, Pay it Forward, Erin Brockovich and others. A new composer I recently stumbled across on iTunes that has some similar stuff is Josh Kramer. His "Beginnings" album is incredibly moving and full of life and passion. Also, if you haven't heard Nico Muhly's stuff, check him out - great stuff indeed!

. . . this is like watching your life through your ears. It is as intense as it is touching.

Poignant and moving

I love everything that Mark Isham does, and this album is no exception. I think it's up there with "River Runs Through It" and "Crash" as his all-time best. Mark Isham is one of those composers like Patrick Doyle, Kerry Muzzey and Aaron Zigman, that I wish we heard more of. Such great work.
