A kid all over again
I've been a fan of epic-scale electronic compositions ever since my mom bought me Vangelis' "Chariots of Fire" soundtrack on cassette over 26 years ago. I would spend hours in my room, playing the B-Side of that tape, geekin' on daydreams of space travel. Remember those days before high school and college, when dating and grades and driver's licenses and taxes were all just abstractions, and you could get away with flights of fancy like that? Well, the genre has definitely come a long way, and with this album (and two and a half decades in home audio improvements), I feel like a kid all over again. Charles Farewell has proven himself more than capable of conjuring up some pretty sick ambient soundscapes here on Life^2, which you will find most agreeable if you're into hard-edged, dystopian, Blade Runner-esque visual fare, as I am. The two standout tracks on this album, IMO, are "Back to Light" and "Five Lines" -both of which showcase long, deliberate buildups of psychic tension that escalate into driving, hypnotic flights, immersing the listener in wave after wave of lush, brain-melting sonic deliciousness. Kudos to Apple for taking this straight to 256Kbps -A QUALITY listening experience!
Good Album!
This is a great album if you like the chill-style electronic/intelligent genre. Some is also a little faster pace. Worth the download.
DAMN
this stuff is great, really recommend it. Some how, it achieves this level of just incredibly beautiful state of being. For some reason, I gain an odd sense of peace when listening to it, and it really just is worth the buy.
