Amazing

I can't believe no one has reviewed this album before this; perhaps the task was too daunting. This music is most likely like nothing you've heard before. It's a mix of classical violin, Middle Eastern, Japanese drum music, rock, and whatever else I'm forgetting. Every time I hear this music I just have to get up and move (and I'm no dancer). Light Blue Sun, The Longing, and The Chinese Song are particularly effective, but my favorite is Seek. Try one track. For 99¢ you can hardly go wrong.

Great mood music!

This record may sound a little less "organic" than Haydn's latest album, but it is still a great listen. The instrument arrangements are very groovy and layered well. The lyrics are meaningful as always. The violin does some real magic in several places on this album. Lili grooves nicely on "Seek", with an addictive melody and VERY nice violin solo. The intro to "Home" is another example of great emotive playing. Not to mention the duet with Pharoah Sanders! Without a doubt though, my favorite song is "Denied". Guest musician Alice Coltrane and Lili make a great pair on this very beautiful and brilliant song. "Anything" is actually a really cool dance tune! There are some very romantic parts in here as well. A great album to drive to, or relax with at home alone, or snuggled up with someone...If you like violin, or anything else by Lili Haydn, you should give this one a try.

Blech…

… New Age gone bad. As one would think it couldn't get worse, it does with this artist. Poor attempts at disguising the New Age vibe with heady electronica paint by numbers presets on their Korg Triton. Horrid compositions, vapid, confused, contrived and directionless music. The lyrics are horrid, tasteless and dumb. This is not music people really like. This music they think they like until one day the realize they're embarrassed for having bought it. So, instead, they don't even attempt to resell the CD at the store down the street. Just for the simple fear of being ridiculed by their peers. They just throw it in the recycle bin, or in this case, delete it off their drives. Seriously, I'd much rather listen to some second rate Screamo band, while agitating a nest full of Africanized Bees, naked.

Before launching her solo career, Lili Haydn established herself as a violinist to reckon with by playing with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Porno for Pyros, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Hootie & the Blowfish, Victoria Williams, Tom Petty, and Robert Plant and Jimmy Page. Haydn began playing violin as a child. She had previously been pursuing a career as a child actress, but when she was eight she decided to play violin. She began studying classical music and attended college as a musical student....
