Finally!
After so many months of piecing together the one-off singles, of tracking down the sporadic demo, of locating/comparing the various versions, and of navigating the humorously cryptic internet jetsam, Brighton's Skint has seen us through and brought out the boys' debut long player. And what a treat it is! A rousing LP pack, it offers a full 10 tracks, 6 live cuts, 5 videos, and even an hour-long track-by-track analysis chat. These guys have their 80's homage chops down cold, yet are always careful to put the warmth of those beautiful analogue synths through their paces in such a way that it leaves you feeling surprisingly de rigueur. In the end, MIRRORS are a breath of fresh air. Healthy amounts of humor and poignancy combine with solid melodies and make for one hell of an entertaining spin. Pop noir indeed! Give this one a try, as there's nothing light about the offering.
Lights and Offerings
The first song I heard from Mirrors was Ways to an End. I fell in love with the video-- the fact that they're an all-keyboard band, and the way they dance. They have a strong 80s influence, so if you like 80s alternative, you'll love Mirrors. My personal favorites from this album are Look at Me, Write Through the Night, Ways to an End, Hide and Seek, and Searching the Wilderness. However, you can't go wrong buying the whole album; after all, you get six live songs and five videos as well. And Mirrors have some really great videos. You'll be glad you checked them out.
