New Year
I know we don't often speak of New Year's Day presents, but this song is definitely a present for me. I have been a fan of Matthew Ryan for 3-4 years now, and as always, his touch on this has turned another song to gold. I am relatively new to the music of Hammock, only hearing of them because of Matthew's affiliation with them, but the styles of each work well together. Admittedly, I was a bit nervous initially that working with another set of musicians "might take away my Matthew", but that did not happen. Matthew's voice and soul don't get lost in this song, and from what I've read from the Hammock camp, their music is just as strong here as on previous solo recordings. "I am in love with the feelings" that this song leaves me with: love, fear, rediscovery and hope. Thank you Matthew and the gentlemen from Hammock.
