What is there is beautiful; dissapointed to see what was left out

The long awaited official soundtrack to the indie developed videogame 'Limbo,' which became an unexpected hit last year (2010), has finally arrived shortly after the announcement of the game's release on PSN and Steam. However, as fans may note, this six track official soundtrack looks pretty measly in comparison to the unofficial fan soundtracks that were ripped directly from the game. Most of the music is still in there, just greatly compressed. "Machine Gun Tranquility" has been attached to the end of "Rotating Room"--meaning you have to sit through the industrial grinding and grading of the sawmill before you can hear it; this makes for an interesting contrast, but not exactly a satisfying listen. I would have preferred an extended version of the "Machine Gun Tranquility" segment of this song, as it appears in the game itself. In fact, I would have preferred if all of the track on this album were extended, and maybe if some of the sound effects were perhaps overlaid back over them in a sort of “Disc 2 Alternative versions.” Of course, that is not what we have here; what we do we have is six short tracks that have been condensed from what many of us remember hearing in game and elsewhere. These six tracks are still an ethereal and beautiful listen, but they are much less comprehensive than what fan offerings have provided—yet with that $4.99 price point, what more could you want. I would still suggest that the musician release a Deluxe Expanded edition of this album for fans of the game and its haunting musical arrangements.

An amazing soundtrack to an amazing game.

With the Steam/PSN release of LIMBO right around the corner, I was excited to see the soundtrack also made available. The tracks, though clocking in at only 20 minutes or so, covers a wide range of the ambience found in the world of LIMBO.

True, there are a couple of tracks missing, and perhaps this is only a partial album. But at $5, this album is totally worth its price, if only to give props to Playdead Interactive for what will surely be remembered as an epic chapter in gaming history.

Absolutely astonishing

An excellent mixture of both ominous and oppressive music that mixes with the game. Why didn't this come to iTunes earlier?!
