Album Review

Serving the Lord and testifying the whole way, Christian hip-hop artist Sho Baraka gets more aggressive with his Gospel on this second effort, Lions & Liars. “Radio don’t play us/Television mock us/The truth is still spreadin’/There’s no way they can stop us,” he declares on key track “Shut Us Down,” and throughout the album he takes a “you’re either with us or you’ll suffer the consequences” stance. Putting some serious power behind the rapper’s quest to convert the world are crunching rock guitars and Flo Rida-styled club tracks plus an all-star Christian rap guest list that goes from Lecrae to Tedashii. Even on this stately and purposeful album, the clever Sho still lets some levity in, shining and smiling on the fourth-quarter highlight “Kobe Bryant on 'Em,” which features the nondenominational gem “When life throws you curveballs/Nolan Ryan on ‘em.”

The bar has been raised!

With this release, Sho Baraka has set a new standard for Christian hip-hop. Sho shines as one of the best lyricists in hip-hop and sets a new standard for all rappers with his sophomore release of Lions and Liars. In my opinion, this just might be the most significant album release in the history of Christian hip-hop. The quality of production and lyrics of Lions and Liars make it second to none when compared to the secular albums that have long dominated hip-hop. Most importantly, Sho glorifies the Lord above and does not glorify his material possessions or his thug lifestyle. This album will definitely not leave you feeling empty but it will leave you thirsting for more. The 116 clique does not ever disappoint and this is no exception. If you thought Lecrae's Rebel was a great album, you will love Lions and Liars.

If you read this Sho, you have touched my life in more ways than you could imagine. Thanks for everything.

christian rap convicts people thats why some dismiss it

people in the world who have a problem with christian rap are usually people who have a problem with christ. this is a quality album im not going to say its off tha chain! but to say this music is totally wack like ive read by a few viewers is clearly people who are just against this type of rap.sho could have secretly had one of the top secular producers produce this whole album and people who didnt know this would have still said the music and cd was wack all because a christian rapper is on it. you could take jay-z or lil wayne and let them rap over the same beats on this album and people who critisized it will be running their mouth talking about how hot it is! and you know im tellin the truth! dont get me wrong some gospel rap is wack! but this is a professionally done quality album and anytime someone calls somethin like this totally wack its a indication that the real problem may not be with the music but with the message.sometimes gospel rap convicts people about the lifestyle their living even wack gospel rap has the ability to do this,therefore people dont wana hear this kind of music or give it a good report,or have anything to do with it .they would rather dismiss it.the proplem is with Jesus not so much the music. Im not sayin this is true in all cases but in most cases it is true I rest my case! and as for christians who are againt gospel rap thats ok that is your personal view and keep it personal just because you are against it doesnt mean God is against it or that he isn't using it.this music is for a specific crowd mainly unsaved people who are already rap listeners but are listining to negative ungodly music thats leading them down the wrong road.so if you cant get with gospel rap its no big deal it probaly wasn't meant for you in the first place! LETS GET THIS MUSIC OUT TO THE WORLD,THE CLUBS ,THE YOUNG PEOPLE!
