I love this album!
Brainstorm, as power metal bands go, are truly one of a kind; their sound is not a replica of any other power metal band out there, nor is there any power metal band that I know of that seems to be replicating their sound. The singer does not sound like any other singer I know of (though he is in at least one other band); the guitars are really good, and the solos highly melodic; the lyrics are well-written; and above all things, the album is really well balanced. I highly recommend that someone who is getting tired of the same-old, same-old in the world of power metal (god knows I am!) check this album out ASAP; the band may end up a footnote here in the States, but in Brainstorm's native Germany this album is destined to be a classic.
More of the "Old Guy's" 2 cents...
Definitely a good purchase ! I started out with most of "Downburst" the newest album, but a few tracks from the older ones as well, and have since completed the collection to almost everything they have including this album in full. If you're teetering on the edge, dont fret, just get it and enjoy the great high quality Metal these guys crank out !!! Their sound has a quality that to me has been missing from my music since the 90's, and it doesn't sound outdated either. I have to be in a certain mood to listen to my older Metal CD's from the 80's, but I can listen to Brainstorm over and over anytime and be completely happy...
Some Very Solid Metal
I was very impressed with Brainstorm. This is not Death, Black, Doom, or Thrash. At best it could be called power metal. However this is one of those bands that seems to transend a title for me. Its metal, its damn good, I've had it for 2 months now, and I listen to it a least twice a week. When you listen to it, everything seems balanced and edible. The guitar are full and weighty, the vocals are clean, the melodies are strong and memorable. Fans of the metal genre as a whole and not only of single parts need to check this out. It is one of those kind of hybrid bands that uses all of whats good.
