Album Review

George Michael's follow-up to the massive success of Faith found him turning inward, trying to gain critical acclaim as well as sales. Listen Without Prejudice, Vol. 1 is not an entirely successful effort; Michael has cut back on the effortless hooks and melodies that crammed not only Faith but also his singles with Wham!, and his socially conscious lyrics tend to be heavy-handed. But the highlights — the light, Beatlesque harmonies of "Heal the Pain," the plodding number one "Praying for Time," and also "Waiting for That Day" as well as the Top Ten "Freedom" — make a case for his talents as a pop craftsman.

Volume 2...

This album is terrific. It's one of those albums that you can listen to from start to finish and feel nothing but tranquility. George Michael did everything right on this album... down to how he didn't focus on himself in the videos for this album. I remember Praying for Time's video only showed words on the screen, and of course the video for Freedom with all the supermodel chicks. Both were a far cry from the ridiculous close-ups of him wiggling his butt in Faith. And it gave you a chance to really enjoy the music and his voice. Meanwhile, Sony complained that the reason the album wasn't selling well was because George wasn't appearing in promotional videos. I don't think that had anything to do with it. I regret that there was no Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 2. Thanks, Sony. But if you want a taste of what Vol. 2 may have been like, check out the album "Red Hot + Dance". The three George Michael tracks on this album were supposed to originally appear on Vol. 2 before his relationship with Sony went awry. The songs include the popular "Too Funky", and two other great songs: "Happy", and "Do You Really Want to Know".

Waiting for that day

Waiting for that day is what you will sing for your girlfriend in a warm sunny day sittin under the shade of a tree !!I I think this album is the best work of George Michael. This album was not promoted well in US but its simply brilliant !! iTunes is the best way to judge it for yourself. Faith may be his most popular album and grammy award winning too..But this is his most creative work to date ..Pay attention to the piano solo in the start and sax solo in the end of the song "Cowboys and Angels", you will enjoy it more with a glass of red wine !! "Freedom" was nominated for grammy in 1990 and lyrics are great..The video at that time was the first to feature all top models of the time.. Must have

Best album he has done. I don't think there is any doubt in lyrics like "Don't tell me how a man should be....If you knew you wouldn't be here with me". It's those kind of lyrics that make this album so good. The lyrics really apply to all. From "Something to Save' "I love you but I guess it's time I let you be" and wishing for that person back on "Waiting for the day" it's his most lyrically powerful and credible, honest album. I think "Mother's Pride" will make any mother who has a son (or daughter) in the military break down. This album leaves you praying for a time he will make one just as good....
