Tops for Maiden fans
A must have if you are an original Iron Maiden fan and all others too. All the power of the classic line up--Dickenson, Harris, Smith, Murray, and McBrain--and all the classic songs. I've probably played this album 1000 or more times since 1985 and have never gotten tired of it. IMHO no other metal band is as good live, not even Zeppelin.
This is an Abortion of "Live After Death"
Normally, I would give this album a full 5 stars. I owned it on vinyl when it came out in 1985, bought the cassette tape for times when I was out and bought all versions of the album on CD when it was finally released in that format. While Bruce's voice does sound strained at parts (hey, you try touring for 11 months and singing as well), but the energy is over the top. However, I have to say that I'm less than pleased with the iTunes version. I don't fault iTunes because they put up whatever it is that the artist's representation or label has given them to work with for download. I have a problem with that person.
When I downloaded this album, I only did so because I didn't feel like looking through boxes of hundreds of CDs in my storage unit to find the double disc edition of this album that I have to import it to iTunes. Now, I wish I did.
For reasons that have yet to be discovered, someone has edited all the recordings on this classic Metal album. At first, I wasn't sure what it was that I was missing, and then it hit me. All of the between song banter between Bruce and the audience is missing! Where is "Scream for me Long Beach!"? Where is the intro for "Revelations?" Where's the intro for "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" where Bruce warns what could happen to you if a bird gives you an unwanted present?
Gone! All gone!
Who's idea was this? I would like to know because they should be fired! It's just enough to screw up the flow of the album and, if that alone wasn't enough, all of the edits between the songs where the dialogue has been removed just jumps to louder or quieter audience reaction.
So, this is another classic album that's been ruined because someone just couldn't be bothered to do things correctly by trying to fix something that was never broken in the first place.

One of the best "Live" album ever! Most of the songs sound better live.
