iTunes Review

If some other band has ever made a better live album, we haven't heard it. Coming as it did a year after Tommy, one of rock's most ambitious concept albums, Live at Leeds quickly proved that the Who were still phenomenal primal rawk band. This album captures a boisterous band at its friskiest. By turns jubilant and anarchic, it's an accurate portrait of the punk-styled violence the band loved to embrace, which we would have paid good money to see first-hand. This offers the next best thing. Key tracks: "Magic Bus," "Summertime Blues," and "I Can't Explain

The Greatest Live Performance Ever

Throughout their refreshing and historic career, The Who have written rock epics, rock anthems, and even rock operas. All of the classic band is captured flawlessly in this masterful live album. In this album, The Who showcase their ability to improvise, play off one another, and create pure musical zen. From John Entwistle's rocking "Heaven And Hell" opener to the "My Generation" epic jam session, Live At Leeds never lets go of the listener. The music is powerful and entertaining and all performed live! The first disc is enough to amaze the most casual rock fan, but the second disc encompasses The Who's colorful and controversial rock opera Tommy. The Who perform the album in its entirety and what a sweet perfomance it is. The best live performance in the history of rock, if not all music.

The Who Live At Leeds

This is by far THE BEST live recording by The Who. I have been a drummer for 30 yrs and I am still in awe of Keith Moon's playing. I first heard this record (on vinyl) in the mid 70's from my ''hippie'' uncle's collection. It only contained 5 songs, but it was enough to sell me on the quality of musicianship. The deluxe version contains the most precision playing of Tommy (live) I ever heard. (counting Isle of Wright, and a bootleg from an Amsterdam concert in '69. The My Generation jam is worth the price of admission alone! If you play an instrument or just enjoy listening to loud jams on the road - this is the album to get.

The Best Live Album Ever....Fact

There have been some great Live Albums.....Deep Purple(Made In Japan)Cheap Trick(Budakan)....these albums were good.......Live At Leeds is Neck and Neck with The Allman Brothers at the Filmore East(deluxe edition).....That album sick.....Live at leeds captures The Who at their Peak....The Beauty of the album is how much each intstrument stands out...yet melt perfectly together. I have heard the Album so many times, that now I listen to The OX on Bass, or Keith Moon on drums individually....and I am in awe at how talented they are. Pete Townsend plays so hard....yet strums so soft at times......Foot on the Gas.....or tapping the brake gently....This Album is Deep.(listen to how fast the Ox plays the Bass, and how hard Moon hits the skins).....you find yourself grinding your teeth.....Get into it.

Few bands in the history of rock & roll were riddled with as many contradictions as the Who. All four members had wildly different personalities, as their notoriously intense live performances demonstrated. The group was a whirlwind of activity, as the wild Keith Moon fell over his drum kit and Pete Townshend leaped into the air with his guitar, spinning his right hand in exaggerated windmills. Vocalist Roger Daltrey strutted across the stage with a thuggish menace, as bassist John Entwistle...
