iTunes Review

If some other band has ever made a better live album, we haven't heard it. Coming as it did a year after Tommy, one of rock's most ambitious concept albums, Live at Leeds quickly proved that the Who were still phenomenal primal rawk band. This album captures a boisterous band at its friskiest. By turns jubilant and anarchic, it's an accurate portrait of the punk-styled violence the band loved to embrace, which we would have paid good money to see first-hand. This offers the next best thing. Key tracks: "Magic Bus," "Summertime Blues," and "I Can't Explain."

This is Live at Leeds, the regular version, its just as good as the delux edition, and it isnt as expensive.

The Best Live Album by The Who

Live at the Isle of Wight 1970 and those other live albums The Who did pale in comparison to the glorious 1970 live album Live At Leeds, which has been looked upon as one of the finest live rock albums ever made. After releasing Tommy, The Who went on a tour to promote the album. To prevent listening to all the tapes they made and choosing the best one for a live album, they scheduled a show at Leeds University. When the album was first released, however, it only had six songs on it (!): "Young Man Blues" "Substitute" "Summertime Blues" "Shakin' All Over" "My Generation" and "Magic Bus" The only real way to listen to Live at Leeds is this newly remastered CD version, with fourteen songs. Live at Leeds is mainly composed of songs from the early era of the band, and a lot of the songs from that era, I've never liked very much. But, when they're performed live, they're exceptional. The fifteen minute version of "My Generation" and the eight minute version of "Magic Bus" especially. It's great fun. The Who fans shouldn't be without this live album. Recommended Tracks: "Heaven and Hell" "I Can't Explain" "Summertime Blues (Remixed Version)" "My Generation (Remixed Version)"

BEST live album EVER!!!

I actually think that this is one of their best albums ever. Don't forget that The Who were one of the greatest live performers ever. They just went crazy on stage and Pete realy showed off his guitar skill more than he did in the studio. The people that think that they were pop, listen to this and learn that The Who were the masters of hard rock.

Years Active: '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s

Few bands in the history of rock & roll were riddled with as many contradictions as the Who. All four members had wildly different personalities, as their notoriously intense live performances demonstrated. The group was a whirlwind of activity, as the wild Keith Moon fell over his drum kit and Pete Townshend leaped into the air with his guitar, spinning his right hand in exaggerated windmills. Vocalist Roger Daltrey strutted across the stage with a thuggish menace, as bassist John Entwistle...
