Album Review

This is the EP that started it all, showcasing Burlap to Cashmere at their very best — live. Burlap to Cashmere is one of the most innovative bands in CCM, with poetic lyrics and strong musical compositions. Their folky, acoustic guitar-infused sound is both hypnotic and thought-provoking. Live at the Bitter End includes the poignant "Eileen's Song" and "Basic Instructions," (th latter their passionate treatise on salvation). Burlap to Cashmere's velvet sound is alternative CCM as it should be.

A Bittersweet Discovery...

The listener that comes across Burlap to Cashmere will find a very bittersweet treasure. On one hand they will have found one of the most dramatically honest musical styles ever heard. From the greek-sounding acoustic guitars and mediterranean themed vocals the band delivers what is likely the most unexpected creations into the mainstream music world. Whether you're listening to the slower ballads, the soft melodic rhythms of their 'contemporary' expressions, or into the rowdy, rompous, foot-stomping, make-you-wanna-get-up-and-dance blistering paced jams you can't help but to notice the exquisitely timed and placed notes and the talent and masterful handling of the old-world instruments (acoustics are the heart of the band - but they jam better than many "rock" groups using "jam-worthy" electrics). They display a great deal of talent and skill, never forsaking a note for a chord, and never losing sight of their true selves in their music. Anyone that picks up "Live at the Bitter End" or their studio album "Anybody Out There" will be amazed at what they've found. However, I did say this would be a bittersweet discovery... "Live at the Bitter End" seems to have been the bitter end for the band... Nothing else has been put out (save for a solo album by former member Steven Delopoulos (http://stevendelopoulos.com)).

Where are these guys?

Where are these guys these days? Have they only this E.P. and the full album? Burlap to Cashmere, let us hear you again, you're gifted of God!
