Album Review
By 1997, it had become clear to Social Distortion that their relationship with 550 (formerly Epic Records) had not worked out and that it was time to move back to the independents. They wrestled themselves free from the contract and signed with Time Bomb Recordings. Their first album for the label was Live at the Roxy, a blistering set that offered a career summation and effectively set the band up for a new beginning. No matter how good Social Distortion records are — and they're usually fairly strong — the band performs with more energy and passion on-stage, and Live at the Roxy captures the intensity of their live show. It doesn't have any surprises, but the set list is solid and the performance's thrilling, which makes it a must for dedicated fans.
Customer Reviews
The best punk live album ever, bar none.
As great as the albums are, and they are all great, nothing beats a Social D live show, and somehow they managed to capture a good deal of the raw intensity of actually being there on disk. I would love to see a blu ray companion disk to this show some day. This is the best live punk album ever as far as I am concerned. None are even close enough to come in a distant second.
amazing
this is the best of the best, mike ness is a god!
Worth the Purchase
I grew up during the grunge band days with the likes of Nirvana and Pearl Jam and can honestly say I wish I would have gotten into these guys instead. Ness is awesome. This is one of the best live albums out there. You won't be disappointed. I like everything from OAR, Taylor Swift, Metallica and even Green Day. This will treat you right if you need a change and aren't necessarily a Social Distortion fan. Enjoy.
