Album Review
The fourth Dave Matthews multi-disc live set to appear in the two years following the 2009 release of Big Whiskey & the GrooGrux King, the 2011 Live at Wrigley Field documents a relatively hit-heavy set performed at the famed Chicago ballpark on September 18, 2010. Maybe most fans don’t need another version of “Tripping Billies” or “Jimi Thing” in their library, but DMB plays both with a modicum of vigor, which may be the calling card of this collection. There are no surprises, either among the songs or the sensibility, but DMB is engaged with an audience that is eager to have a good time, so everybody is entertained for a night. That may or may not be enough to justify another official live album in the discography — if you’re outside the cult, it’s impossible to tell — but Live at Wrigley it’s certainly not a perfunctory performance.

Review
I was fortunate to attend both shows. Received the boxset from both nights today in mail. First night setlist was much more powerful than the final night...watchtower with a never released stairway to heaven final verse thrown in, Neil Young cover needle and damage done solo to open the encore, burning down the house cover. I think the older fans will lean towards night one and it's unfortunate that it's not available on iTunes But nonetheless I'm splitting hairs. Both nights were incredible. First full band participation in Christmas Song in more than a decade was a nice suprise. I think the final song last stop was unplanned by the band, but the audience insisted upon it being played. Being a lifetime DMB fan and cubs fan, doesn't get much better than this. Wish I could have stumbled upon Dave and tim playing at the Cubbie Bear back In 1991 after a Cubs game. The concert and venue clearly meant alot to them and I'm thankful I was there to witness a historic performance for DMB.
Last Stop!!
I love the chant at the end of Grey Street... Last Stop.. Last Stop... That is my favorite DMB song of all time! It is a killer show, I hope I see it at Atlantic City this June!!!!!!
Nice companion to Live in NYC
The more I listen to this, the more I love Die Trying as an opener. It opened PNC Park this past summer, but you can always hear more on an official release. Stay or Leave is nice to hear, and Seven just keeps getting better. Crash is Crash, GGT is a nice intro to #41 which is fantastic on this release. I like Billies midst and Ditch is a nice change of pace after that. I really like the Squirm, Gravedigger, Spaceman run..the Big Whiskey songs just keep getting better. Stay is Stay, but I really like what they added to Can't Stop this past summer. Grey Street is fantastic as always, but I'd prefer if Dave sang more on this Jimi Thing. That's cool at the show, not as much when you listen to it. Time Bomb into Two Step is a great way to end the set, and I really enjoy the whole encore. The Last Stop is very emotional on this release. This is a great companion to Live in NYC released last year.
