What getting older sounds like

I've been a JP fan since they had 20 people listening to them at the Rhythm Room in Dallas. Jack and Cary provided the soundtrack for my college years and I've pulled out their records from time to time over the last 20 years when feeling nostalgic -- it's almost like getting in a time machine that takes me back to a point when we were all a lot younger.

I was happy to see "Promise of Summer" come out and hope it does well, but the studio sound masks the toll time takes on us all -- something that comes through loud and clear on this album. It may not be obvious to the casual listener, but to those of us who have been there since the beginning, its unavoidable and the recordings are the better for it.

The Indigo Guys still make some damn good music together and I hope they keep it up.

Bottom line -- a must-have for everyone who was (or is) a JP fan.

Great album!

I'd listen to this album, Live From Atlanta, any time of any day...jamming in the car with the windows rolled down, really loud around the house while I'm cooking and cleaning, playing in the background when friends are over for drinks and dinner, whenever/wherever, seriously! I love the narrative parts inbetween the songs. Both Jack and Cary display their individual personalities and invite you into their life journeys as well as their musical talent. Promise of Summer is a new favorite! It's always satisfying to hear Please Come To Boston, Vineyard, and Three of Us in a Boat. And I just can't get I Gotta Know out of my head. Awesome album. Disappointment-free-guaranteed!

One of the hardest-touring bands of the '90s, Jackopierce slipped under the mainstream's radar to earn a widespread following on college campuses with their pleasant acoustic folk-pop. Guitarists/singers Jack O'Neill and Cary Pierce founded the duo in 1988, while both were attending Southern Methodist University in Dallas as theater majors. Honing a charmingly simple, low-key sound centered around vocal harmonies and acoustic guitars, the two developed a strong local following around the Dallas area....
