Awesome Show!!!
Excellent performance by Morse & Dixie Dregs in New Haven, CT (Toads Place). The band was in top form and playing classic tunes. The line up: T Lavitz-keyboards, Dave LaRue (Steve Morse Band, Planet X)-bass, Rod Morgenstein (Winger)-drums & percussion, Jerry Goodman (Mahavishnu Orchestra)-violins, and of course Mr. Steve Morse (Deep Purple, Kansas)-guitars. The tunes: "Bloodsucking Leeches", "Country House Shuffle", "Dance of the Maya"-great Mahavishnu Orchestra cover, "The Bash" and "Cruise Control". The bottom line: DIXIE DREGS RULE!!!

Steve Morse has enjoyed a healthy following particularly among guitar players, he has scored highly in readers' polls held annually by musicians' magazines. Although initially inspired by the Beatles as a teen, Morse began to expand his listening to include the Yardbirds, Jimi Hendrix, and Led Zeppelin. Although he played a little piano and some clarinet, he became fascinated with guitar after seeing a concert by classical guitarist Juan Mercadal, who later gave the teenaged Morse some lessons.
