The Boys of Panic! Have a True Sense of Music and Artistry

I was very disappointed to see so many bad reviews of this little release, I think it is amazing and shows how the guys are actually great musicians. One of the things that makes great musicians great is the ability to change and adapt. The rearrangements of these songs here are true genius. While the sound on the album is great, this shows that they don't need synths and production gimmicks to sound great - they can just use grums, guitar, bass, and piano and play a great set of songs live without any studio manipulation. The rearrangements are great. A song does not have to conform to one rigid performance dictated by the album version. Songs can change (e.g. the greatest of performers - one Bob Dylan - is constantly rearranging his songs never letting two performances be identical and he's had a career for about 45 years). The fact that these songs work in these two different arrangements speaks to the musical ability of the performers but also to the true greatness of the songs - they work in whatever form the band plays them. About his voice, the arrangements are low-key, and his usual voice wouldn't work, because chances are that he would have to sing a lot louder to get that same voice he has on the records and that would not fit the arrangements of the songs. His voice here fits the acouticish sound of the songs and I think it works very well. These songs sound great and I hope the guys in Panic keep expanding and changing and reinterpreting and growing and getting better.

Love the instruments, hate the vocals

While I do appreciate the fact that Panic! at the Disco decided to mix around with the songs that everyone seems to know so well these days, I do not understand why Brendon Urie decided to whisper in every single track. It almost feels as if he's bored doing it. Regardless, it still is interesting to hear new versions of the three songs.

Truly Amazing

I'm so glad that Panic! decided to come out with these tracks. I think they're very creative and rearrange the songs in a fresh way that I never thought they would/could do. Some may say that Brendon Urie's vocals are not very impressive, but I think that they breathe fresh air into the music I've been listening to non-stop for the past 7 months. Overall, I am pleasantly surprised!

Biography

Formed: Las Vegas, NV

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '00s, '10s

The members of Panic! at the Disco had barely graduated high school when their full-length debut, A Fever You Can't Sweat Out, transformed the suburban Las Vegas teens into national emo-pop stars. The band had materialized several years earlier, when friends Spencer Smith (drums) and Ryan Ross (guitar) began covering blink-182 tunes together. After tiring of playing another group's material, they recruited two additional classmates, guitar/vocalist Brendon Urie and bassist Brent Wilson, and the newly...
