Beautiful Reworks of Classic Songs

Let me just first say that I love the Weakerthans and consequently, this review couldn't be any more subjective. Live Session EP sounds like the Weakerthans covering themselves. The songs are completely reworked from their album counterparts, offering fresh sounds and interesting new takes. The acoustic rendition of "Fallow" will rekindle any fan's love of the track that has grown weak from too many listens, as well as the drastically different "Anchorless" (they are 12-year old songs, after all). "Reunion Tour" closes out the EP nicely with the big reverb tone of the original replaced by NES-sounds. New territory for sure, and the band pulls it off without a hitch. Often times the "feeling" songs possess goes away when a band releases live versions, but this is not the case here. A true must-have for anyone who loves the Weakerthans.

Brilliant

Normally I don't buy the live sessions on itunes, but this cd is refreshingly amazing. An absolute must buy for any fan.

Unique recordings of good songs

The great thing about this album is that even though all of the songs have already been released, each of these songs is performed in a very different way than the album version. Some of them are more electronic sounding than their album counterparts, and some are more acoustic. All of them are unique, even if you own the album versions. This is what any live sessions album should be like.

Propagandhi had been known for powerful, speedy punk and overtly political lyrics, but the Weakerthans went down a more melodic and introspective path. Consisting of Red Fisher drummer Jason Tait and bassist John Sutton, the Weakerthans took their name from...
