re: Where is the originality?

Certainly I am biased since that's my guitar you're listening to on these tracks... dauntless, I continue. Perhaps, as Christians, we should also get all the facts before we start firing off criticism. First - this project was recorded (live, live, live, no overdubs, no fixes, no second takes, no studio magic) in 2001 - so, if the songs sound old, it's because they are. Second - just for some context - the project was recorded in Denver, CO. The first 2 or 3 rows in the audience were full of some kids from a youth group in nearby Littleton, CO. We met several of those kids when we played at their church previously. Many of them went to Columbine High, and were there on that awful day when so many lost their lives. More than one told us stories about seeing their friends shot and killed. But if you'll listen to the recording... you'll hear them singing w/ the joy of the LORD... joy that can only be found after one has been all the way to the bottom, and found the peace and hope that comes only from HIM. If you don't like the record, that's fine, but you might consider getting more facts before you start piling on about how Christians need to do better, or whatever. Personally - I give the record 3 stars... I wish I could mix it again; there is some stuff I don't like. But it was a great night, and I'm proud of the music we put to tape.

Backing up the Band...

About 6 months ago, I contacted Plumbline concerning this album. They, at the time, did not even offer it for sale anymore. Being the generous, gracious, and kind men of God they are, they gave me a means to own a copy of this album. I'm glad that they have now put it back on the market. In response to an earlier statement, about how as Christians we should always be on the prowl to come up with new and revolutionary things to keep the faith fresh, please allow me to retort. At a youth rally that Plumbline did a few years ago, Joseph, the main vocalist, said something that really spoke to me. He spoke of how worship was a sacred thing, and how beautiful the moment of praise that we were experiencing was. Then he asked the crowd, if no one ever wrote another note of a song, or a new line of lyric, would we still be able to praise? Would our faith become dull? I believe this album is a beautiful thing for what it stands for. Nothing new, but the good that resides in the art of praise to our Lord. Relish in it.

Great Live Record

I saw PL in Texas last weekend... they do some great cover songs, I really like the cover of Chris Tomlin's "Better is One Day"... this is enjoyable worship music.
