Awesome Album
I first heard Anthony Gomes live in Nashville. Man, do they put on an amazing show. I was fairly disappointed with their studio album however. But, this is just one of those bands that is just so much better without the refinement of the studio. Which, in my opinion, a live show is where a band demonstrates their true talent which this band has plenty. I can only hope that they will include Colorado in their next tour. Seeing Anthony Gomes in the Mishawaka Amphitheater would be amazing.
Old stuff is way better than his new stuff
I have good news and bad: Good news - lf you're into the blues, listen to his albums through "Unity". They're great. His live shows *'were* a raucous party with great music! Bad news - He's changed direction to some sort of cowboy thing, and we don't like it at all. My wife had been very close to the band (OK, not THAT close...(grin)) in his early Chicago area days. I joined her when we met in 2000. He's a great guitar player, and we really, really enjoyed his blues music both recorded and live. We've been really disappointed in his change in direction in the past few years. Hopefully, he'll come back around. Anthony - if you happen to see this... come back to the blues!
One of my favorite albums
The only thing better is hearing him in person. Anthony hits some deceptively high notes in his singing and has some great diversity and technique in his guitar playing. Doesn't play just notes but always has direction to his playing.
