It's about time!
I'm so happy to see Gary's work hit iTunes. The energy in this music is timeless. "I'm not a number" defined my generation.
What a great time in my life!!!
I grew up in West Michigan...and was fortunate enough to listen to an AOR station that wansn't afraid to take some chances...It's where I discovered Marillion and a little outfit named Gary Myrick and the Figures. My friends and I spent almost every moment we weren't working, hanging out at Lake Michigan and this music defined the Beach crowed of that time. Though I like his debut self titled album much better, this sophomore album was very strong. I have yet to meet someone who isn't from West Michigan or California that has ever heard of Gary's music...here's hoping a little iTunes exposure can shine a light on a wonderful artist from the 80's! Search out and listen to Living Disaster, The Party and She Talks in Stereo to get a better grasp of what a fun band this was!
Classic Alternative Rock at its finest!
I have no idea how Gary Myrick and the Figures were not the biggest thing in the late 70s/early 80s. Loved them then and they are just as good today listening to the newly re-released tunes. Give this a listen...I think you'll be hooked too!
