Absolutely Brilliant. Buy this now.

Absolutely unreal. Both of her Bacharach albums are through the roof glorious. Buy both.

KIller voice, band, arrangements

My favorite living composer, conductor, arranger, Patrick Williams produced this album and arranged it. " Do You Know The Way To San Jose?" alone is worth buying the whole album in my opinion. It is superb. I love the biting baritone sax and trombones in Patrick's arrangement. I can't sit still listening to it. Very addictive. The end of the song is killer. Trijntje has a nice edge to her voice, at times husky and at times tender. Wonderful vibrato. Oh to have a voice like that. She sings like an angel. This is my favorite arrangement of this song. Love it. Highly recommended.

Bacharach is lost in the busy arrangments

I bought the album based on listening to a few nice samples. I'm a big fan of Bacharach since the late 60's and the bits I heard sounded okay. I'm always ready to hear new versions of these classics.

But when you listen to these songs in their entirety the arrangements begin to overshadow the singer. Overwrought instrumentals especially at the beginning and endings of the songs really bring this album down. The arrangements take away the beauty of the songs and in some cases they are silly as if they are spoofing the 60's era instead of giving us an honest interpretation.

This singer seems more interested in copying the styles of others who have done these songs. Some songs, like "Windows of the world" have a needlessly slow tempo and drain the energy out of you conveying none of the yearning that the song (written in the mid- 60s) is all about. The song comes off as just a downer.

"Say a Little Prayer" sounded like she was trying to do the Aretha Franklin version. I wish I hadn't bought the whole album.

"This House is Empty Now" is a wonderful but the rest of the album is really background music - not for the real Bacharach fan.
