Very Good Compilation

Please do not confuse this Los Diablos with Los Diablos de Espana or you will be very disappointed. This is the Cumbia/Ranchera Los Diablos. Los Diablos of Spain is the Rock Group. Both groups are very good, just different styles of music.

These Guys Played At My First Latin Dance

I was invited to a Latin Dance by a Friend. Los Diablos was the headliner, and I really enjoyed their music. Great Dance band! Whatever happened to them?

3 Grammy Nominations and Alot of Memories

There are several Los Diablos groups out there, but only one that received 3 Grammy Nominations for Best Mexican American Album. If you are looking for that group, you have arrived. The group was founded in Los Angeles by members of the Arenas Family, Danilo Torres, and Alfredo Barbarena. As members of the group came and went, the principals became Rudy Arenas, Roger Torres, and Alfredo Barbarena. They had one major hit entitled "A Cambio de Que" and after loosing the vocalist that sang that song, they never really recovered. They put out at least 10 albums after that one, with much critical acclaim, but very little commercial success. Perhaps they were ahead of their time, or the stars and moon were not aligned. They had a tenacious manager who was able to get them deals first at CBS, then Warner, and finally BMG, but none of these companies could help them get a hit. I had the privilege to see them in Chicago once, and I am sad to report that they just did not have what it took to be a contender. They were good, but not great. It is sad because my girlfriend of the time, loved them, and they had many loyal fans. Just not enough to help them get to the next level. Who is to blame? I guess you could blame the group, the manager(s), the agent(s), the record companies, or just lady luck, but I would like to think that everyone did the best they could under the circumstances, and it is very difficult to catch a shooting star. This album has a very nice assortment of their best known songs. If you are looking for the duet with Manoella Torres, check out their other album. If you are looking for Los Diablos de Espana, this is not them!
