Los Lobos : Live at the Fillmore

The Lobos are possibly the most underrated band in America today. They have consistently released great music for over 20 years. This CD is no exception. Their ability to play a wide assortment of musical styles is what makes them unique. My biggest complaint about this CD is it should be longer. You do get a 2nd CD with 3 acoustic songs which are great. But you know they had to play more music than this at this particular venue. I would also like to see some older shows with more of there older tunes being played released. While I gave this 4 stars I can assure you they have done many 5 star concerts in the past. If you are a Lobos fan pick this up. You will not regret it. Los Lobos Rocks!!!

Where are the other songs?

I've seen Los Lobos at the Fillmore several times. And the DVD is one of my favorites, plugging it in whenever we have a party at the house and trying to get others into this waaaaay underrated band. So when I went to buy the mp3s to have the show for my iPod, I was a bit disappointed to find it did not include some of the songs on the DVD. Missing are The Big Ranch, Hurry Tomorrow, Mexicano Americano; not to mention what I feel are the BEST songs on the DVD: Done Gone Blue, Chains of Love, Mas Y Mas (with slide master Robert Randolph), and in a "what the hell?" moment, I Got Loaded! How can you not have the latter, which had crowd participation? Yeah, it's a simple song, but it still is big fun live - and HELLO - this is a live album! That is why the missing star. The inclusion of What's Going On was cool though, and the acoustics are a nice addition. If you think Los Lobos is only La Bamba, you are sorely mistaken and out of touch.

Los Lobos were one of America's most distinctive and original bands of the '80s. They may have had a hit with "La Bamba" in 1987, yet that cover barely scratches the surface of their talents. Los Lobos are eclectic in the best sense of the word. While they draw equally from rock, Tex-Mex, country, folk, R&B, blues, and traditional Spanish and Mexican music, their music never sounds forced or self-conscious. Instead, all of their influences become one graceful, gritty sound. From their very first...
