iTunes Review
Day of Fire’s third album returns the Nashville-based group to the music biz wars with a brace of grunge-steeped rockers and rough-cut ballads. On this well-realized effort, the foursome sticks to its proven formula of chunky rhythms, lacerating riffage and menacing (yet redemptive) lyrics. Singer Josh Brown continues to demonstrate greater restraint than many of his throat-shredding peers, striking an insinuating stance on tracks like “Lately” and “Light ‘Em Up.” He’s well-matched by guitarist Joe Pangallo, who gets nasty when it counts (especially on “Hey You” and “Landslide”) but also knows when to use finesse along with raw force. With songwriting contributions from Chris Daughtry, Losing All tilts slightly towards the pop marketplace, getting positively catchy on “Hello Heartache,” “When I See You” and “Airplane.” Brown alludes to his survival of a near-fatal overdose in “Cold Addiction” and casts himself in a personal passion play in “The Dark Hills.” Throughout, Day of Fire never loses sight of its fervent commitment to God, even when churning its way through troughs of smoldering hard rock.
Customer Reviews
I wish I can say better
I don't like the "new" sound if that's what you want to call it. The first two albums DoF put out were great, this is nothing more than mediocre. I was really pulling for Losing All to be the first big album of 2010.
Amazing!!! (Close Up Review)
Amazing cd!
Light'em Up 9/10 Awesome rocker with a sick guitar solo
Hello Heartache 9/10 Really nice ballad without being like everyother band out there.Good lyrics
When I See You 8/10 We heard a demo of this a while ago. Not too much has changed. Good rocker
Airplane 7/10 It took a while to get used to this one. But after a few listens, its a solid balad
Lately 8/10 Everyone knows this single. Solid song with a sweet guitar solo near the end.
Cold Addiction 10/10 Amazing song. Definitely a pump your fist one.
Landslide 10/10 Arguably the hardest song. Near the end they pound in a slow riff made for any headbanger
Never Goodbye 6/10 Nothing really sticks out to me on this one. Other than the solo at the end it is rather bland.
Hey You 10/10 This one is headbang worthy. This could be the next radio single.
We Are No One 10/10 Tied with Landslide; the ending of this song is very hard. Great build ups and an awesome ending
Long Highway 8/10 A First listen would make it seem like a forgettable song, but when you listen to the lyrics, it's all about life on the road. Interesting song about a rock band's life
Strange 8/10? Hard to rate this one. This short mysterious transition song is very interesting. It goes into The Dark Hills Perfectly
The Dark Hills 10/10 Day of Fire keeping with their routes with a not so much worship song, but a thinker song. They don't waste too much time beating around the bush with this one. It is evident that their faith is still there. With only small lyric changes within the repeats of the chorus that make you think, it makes it a powerful song.
DoF fans rejoice!
After almost 4 years of waiting, DoF brings us a cd to be screaming about.
BEST YET!!!!
One of my favorite bands and they DELIVER! They have moved to a slightly different sound but all in all it got better, each song is well crafted and I am glad the wait is over! Highly recommended!
