At Last

I'm so happy this album finally came out. After last year's finale, all of my Lost soundtracks seemed incomplete without at least one rendition of Jacob's theme. Now that need is satisfied by 3 tracks on this soundtrack - the most notable being "The Tangled Web" (could there be a more perfect title?). Some of my other favorites from this album are La Fleur (love the Sawyer/Juliet theme), The Incident, & Jacob's Stabber (never thought in a million years, back in the beginning, that Ben's theme would eventually be pulling my heartstrings). There are many other great tracks as well. It's amazing to me that Giacchino was able to cook this stuff up while also working on Up & Star Trek in the same year. That man sure can multi task! Really makes me envious of the musical talent in his head.

Movin' on up!

Michael Giacchino is definitely movin' on up in the ranks of film composers. He continues to show how diverse he is, and is amongst my favorite new composers like Josh Kramer and Nico Muhly. I am definitely excited to see what they bring us in the future I'm a big fan of "La Fleur" - probably my favorite track on this album.

An awesome addition to one's LOST collection

This album is awesome. In some of the tracks, I kind of didn't want the slowness of the song, but then in other tracks I appreciated it because then it was preceded/followed by a jolt of intensity. For a few of the tracks, Giacchino transformed them. The one that really stood out to me was the way he changed "Dharma Disaster," which was amazing. It was also neat for Giacchino to combine motifs in songs. I don't know how to explain precisely, but his technique of combining what he thought was an essential aspect of Season 5 was cool. I've listened to the soundtrack maybe two complete times and I don't know exactly what to tell you about the tracks since there is so much music, but it is overall great. Of course, there were a couple of things I had hoped would be on this season's soundtrack, like Faraday's theme from Season 4 (which wasn't on the S4 soundtrack) and some other minor things that popped up in the first several episodes of Season 5, but it's all right. If you compare Season 5 to Seasons 4 and 6, this season was kind of not as powerful probably due to the fact that Giacchino was working on scores for Star Trek, Up, and Land of the Lost. BUT STILL... THIS IS AWESOME.
