iTunes Review

Hard to believe it's been over a decade since Memphis stalwart Project Pat first hit the scene, appearing on tracks with his brother's crew Three 6 Mafia. It was their smash hit "Sippin On Some Sizzurp" where most people first heard him, which was followed up by his own hugely successful solo anthem "Chickenhead." Loud Pack is his eighth album since 1999, and pretty much sounds just like the first seven — which is a good thing. Dark and menacing yet oddly catchy production? Check. Absurdly repetitive hooks and chanted choruses? Check. High-octane rhymes about drugs, thugs, females and money? Oh yes. If you're in the mood for sensitive, self-deprecating, or tongue-twisting lyrical wizardry, look elsewhere, but when it comes to explosive Dirty South party-starters, Pat's still got it. Check out the whistle-infused opener "Duffle Bag," the John Carpenter-esque "N*ggas So Cut Throat," and the breezy ode "Kelly Green."

Obvious He hasnt been working

I love Three 6 and Project Pat but something is off. some songs sound too recycled and put over beats. I would love to hear Pat get back to Crook by the book and such but it just sounds like he hasnt been working at refining the sound. Although better than his last release.

Project Pat-Loud Pack

After a significant hiatus, Project Pat returns with his new solo album Loud Pack on Hypnotized Minds, sure to please fans of hard-core Memphis rap. Revelling in political incorrectness, Pat raps about robbery, drug dealing, gang-banging and marijuana, but he does it so energetically and over beats so banging with the classic Hypnotized Minds sound and feel that the listener can’t help being exhilarated as all the rules are broken. Stacking paper seems to be the dominant theme of the album, expressed in songs such as “Duffle Bag”, “7 Days A Week”, “Money On My Mind” and the final “Dollar Signs”, which features appearances from Three-6 Mafia and Rick Ross. “I Play Dope Boy” , “Flashin” and indirectly “Niggas So Cut Throat” are songs about robberies and treachery. “Gang Signs” rejoices in the nihilism of gang-banging and bragging about it, but over a powerful beat that makes the whole thing seem fun, while “I Got A Question” is delivered over a track full of Asian musical influences. The only really pimped-out track on Loud Pack is “Kelly Green”, a tribute to the mystic weed personified as a woman, over a soulful, laid-back groove. Production, by DJ Paul and Juicy J, is first-rate throughout, making Loud Pack an album not to be missed.

Great sounding album, not the best project pat album I've heard but def worth playing for quite a while. I support this artist on this and every album he's made along with hypnotize minds.

Biography

Born: 1972 in Memphis, TN

Genre: Hip Hop/Rap

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

Of the many hardcore rappers to emerge from Memphis during the late '90s, Project Pat stood tall amid his peers. His affiliation with the Three 6 Mafia collective introduced him to many listeners, especially after he was featured on the group's hit song "Sippin' on Some Syrup" in 2000. Yet Project Pat (born Patrick Houston, brother to Three 6 Mafia founder Juicy J) made his mark on much of America with a hit song of his own a year later, "Chickenhead." The song — which features production by...
