Imagine Boz Scaggs, Daryl Hall, Bobby “Blue” Bland and Donald Fagan all meet at a bus stop and spontaneously burst into song – it might sound just like this. The cleverly titled LOUNGEVITY is the latest work from Greg Cagle and Rick Nash who met as teenage ‘soul boys’ in Concord and later moved to Charlotte, NC, where their musical paths crossed several times over the years. LOUNGEVITY is their 2nd release in less than a year and the follow up to their highly successful SOUL COMPLETE album… a commanding piece of work composed and produced by the duo. I was immediately struck by the powerful brass arrangements; sophisticated lyrics and slam-dunk vocals impeccably delivered. Stand out tracks for me include the first single, “Big Ol’ Empty Room,” “A Little Bit of Attention” and “You Remind Me.” Big time, happy grooves here with a light touch that would grace any bus stop! ~STEWART COXHEAD
