Brittany Hargest asserts her identity on her solo debut, Love All the Way. Fans of the singer from her days with Radio Disney’s Jump5 will hear echoes of her former group's bubbly sounds in these tracks. What’s new is Hargest’s growing vocal confidence and upfront expression of her Christian beliefs. Cowriting all but three of the album’s tracks, she avoids preaching in favor of personal testimony. She combines her message with thumping groove-driven tracks that blend bright electronica colors with more intimate acoustic touches. “Slow Motion,” “Like a Fire,” and “Miracle” are particularly galvanizing slices of dance-floor pop with big sweeping choruses. Hargest acknowledges her flaws while praising her savior in “Put It All Together” and delivers a wake-up call to the spiritually complacent in “Critical.” Among the slower tunes, “You Met Me” stands out for its sensitive lyric and sparse production. At 23, Hargest has clearly outgrown her Disney-star status. Love All the Way captures her as a young artist finding her way by the light of her faith.
